A harmonically advanced cool-toned and subtle guitarist, Jim Hall was an motivation to numerous guitarists, including some (such as for example Expenses Frisell) who audio nothing beats him. Hall went to the Cleveland Institute of Music and analyzed classical acoustic guitar in LA with Vicente Gómez. He co-led a quartet with Artwork Farmer (1962-1964), documented on an intermittent basis with Paul Desmond during 1959-1965 (all their quartet shows are collected on the Mosaic box arranged), and became a fresh York studio room musician. He was mainly a leader through the pursuing years and, furthermore to his personal projects for Globe Pacific/Pacific Jazz, MPS, Milestone, CTI, Horizon, Designer Home, Concord, MusicMasters, and Telarc, Jim Hall documented two traditional duet albums with Expenses Evans. A self-titled cooperation with Pat Metheny adopted in 1999. A flurry of studio room albums, reissues, and compilations adopted throughout the following few years, using the outstanding Jim Hall & Basses standing up out because of its bass/acoustic guitar duet format. Jim Hall passed away at his house in Manhattan on Dec 10, 2013; he was 83 yrs . old.
