Sportfreunde Stiller

Football-obsessed German rock trio Sportfreunde Stiller shaped beyond Munich in 1996. Vocalist/guitarist Peter “Balboa” Brugger, bassist Rüdiger Linhof, and drummer Florian “Rakete” Weber produced the name off their previous soccer trainer Hans Stiller, adding “Sportfreunde” (German for “sports activities friends”) whenever a rival music group laid state to the Stiller name. The group released its debut EP, Macht Doch Was Ihr Wollt, Ich Geh Jetzt soon after forming, using the follow-up, Thonträger, showing up two years afterwards. Sportfreunde Spiller released their initial full-length work, Therefore Wie Einst Genuine Madrid, in 2000. Its titular focus on the beautiful video game additional cemented the trio’s athletic picture, and in 2003 “Individual,” a monitor off their sophomore work, Die Gute Seite, was included on EA Sports activities’ FIFA 2003 gaming. The 3rd Sportfreunde Spiller LP, Burli, strike shops in 2004. 2 yrs later, shortly following release of the next record, You must Gain Zweikampf, their Globe Cup-inspired enthusiast anthem “’54, ’74, ’90, 2006” topped the German graphs, so when the German nationwide squad was ousted by eventual champ Italy, the music group reworked the tune as “’54, ’74, ’90, 2010” in expectation of another World Cup competition in South Africa. Afterwards in 2006, Sportfreunde Stiller had been nominated as Greatest German Act in the annual MTV European countries Music Honours. Sportfreunde Stiller’s 5th full-length, La Bum, decreased in 2007, and became their 1st recording to go up to number 1 around the German record graphs; two years afterwards they implemented it up with an MTV Unplugged established recorded in NY. After four years apart, Sportfreunde Stiller came back towards the graphs in 2013 with NY, Rio, Rosenheim, which increased to number 2 for the German graphs, went completely to number 1 in Austria, and peaked at six in Switzerland. An extended tour followed, then your music group took a brief hiatus before October 2016 discharge of Sturm & Stille, their initial number one strike in Germany since La Bum.
