Primo Scala

Primo Scala was a bestseller on Rex Information along with his Accordion Music group but he didn’t really exist. The name was a pseudonym for musical movie director/manufacturer Harry Bidgood (b. 1898, London, Britain, d. 1955), who documented much private dance music within the 20s and 30s. He was pianist with De Groot’s salon orchestra on the Piccadilly Resort, and documented on HMV Information using its offshoot, the Piccadilly Dance Music group. When De Groot still left the resort, his light music was changed by an orthodox dance music group with Bidgood as pianist. After going to Berlin in 1924, where in fact the band documented for Vox, Bidgood resigned, likely to Vocalion Information as recording supervisor and musical movie director. He made information with his home band, launching them on the many Vocalion brands (Aco, Beltona, Guardsman, Broadcast, Coliseum, etc.) under brands like the Midnight Merrymakers, Riverside Dance Music group and Kentucky Revellers. In the past due 20s his regular pool of music artists included Ted Heath, who performed for him on the Ritz Resort and Ciro’s Membership.
