Macromantics may be the nom de rap of Melbourne, Australia-based Romy Hoffman, who have began her music career being a guitarist in Ben Lee’s music group Sound Addict when she was just 15. While touring and executing with Sound Addict, Hoffman fell deeply in love with hip-hop and started incorporating it into her very own music and punk-inspired, D.We.Y. strategy. In 2004, she self-released her debut as Macromantics, the Hyperbolic Reasoning EP, which released her passionate and frequently witty MC design. Performing live with turntablist DJ Amy, Hoffman produced a name for herself helping artists as different as Structures in Helsinki, Erase Errata, and Sage Francis. Her debut record, Occasions in Movement, premiered in summertime 2006 in Australia and gained a nomination for your year’s J Award for Record of the entire year; it found its way to the U.S. via Eliminate Rock Superstars early in 2007.
