Peter Compo

Now concentrating on his violin, Peter Compo is a jazz professional since 1950 when he started performing on the Central Plaza in NYC with Conrad Janis, Henry “Red” Allen, Willie “The Lion” Smith and various other main inhabitants of the brand new York jazz picture. Early in his lifestyle there were apparent signals Compo will be a jazz person, when at age 8, he began skipping his traditional violin lessons to try out pop strikes of your day and jazz music for his close friends. Since his Central Plaza gigs, Compo is a sideman and/or documented with a digital Who’s Who of Jazz representing many jazz designs. He cites as you of his even more telling experiences using the beautiful and musically advanced and important Claude Thornhill Orchestras in the 1950’s. Among his affects are Ray Dark brown, Slam Stewart (with whom he researched), “Stuff” Smith, Ray Nance, Sven Amundsen and Duke Ellington. Among those he provides studied with, furthermore to Stewart, are Phil Sklar, primary bass participant for Arturo Toscanini’s NBC Orchestra and Homer Mensch, who kept an identical post using the NY Philharmonic. Compo also went to the Manhattan College of Music. But he feels his greatest “education” was having “Stuff “Smith being a coach. Compo provides three CDs being a head to his credit, the most recent In European countries which compiles studio room and live recordings while playing on that Continent. An experienced player that has lent from all of the great jazz violinists to build up his own design, Compo continues to execute in his indigenous NYC.
