A longtime denizen of New York’s doo wop picture, Cooper’s only main hit was the 1962 instrumental “Wiggle Wobble.” The Norfolk, VA, indigenous was an associate from the Empires as well as the Whirlers, and maintained the Graphs, before putting your signature on with Danny Robinson’s Everlast imprint and reducing a vocal known as “Drill down Yourself” along with his music group, the Spirit Rockers. Ironically, it had been the flip aspect (a pounding instrumental known as “Wiggle Wobble,” offering prominent Ruler Curtis-styled tenor sax by ex-Charts business lead vocalist Joe Grier) that provided Cooper his just chart trip. Follow-up initiatives included the equivalent “Let’s Perform the Boston Monkey” for Enjoy.
