Billy Drummond

b. 19 June 1959, Newport Information, Virginia, USA. Drummond started playing drums at age four, following a exemplory case of his drummer dad. He performed in senior high school and regional rings and because of hearing his dad’s record collection started taking a pastime in the experts of contemporary jazz. In his teenagers he attracted interest in NY and became one of the young musicians documented by Blue Notice Records within their series of rings named OUT OF NOWHERE. He joined up with Horace Metallic’s music group, thereafter touring and occasionally recording with performers including Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, J.J. Johnson, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Tommy Smith, Vincent Herring, Jon Faddis and Renée Rosnes. He offers played on many records using the second option and she takes on in his music group, Native Colors, which also contains Steve Wilson. An exceedingly accomplished specialist, Drummond is an extremely supportive player, usually listening and wanting to bring out the very best in the music artists he accompanies.
