Tommaso Traetta

This Italian composer wrote approximately forty operas in the serious and comic veins though his adaptations from the lyric tragedies were most crucial. Traetta was affected by Rameau, Rousseau, Metastasio, Jommelli and Gluck aswell as many librettists concurrent at that time. He offered as the movie director from the Ospedaletto in Venice and later on became the grasp of music in the Russian courtroom in St. Petersburg. Before time for Venice he also spent a while in London. Among his operas had been “Ippolito ed Aricia,” “Ifigenia in Tauride,” “Antigone,” “Sonfonisba,” and “Armida.” Critically Traetta’s operas had been often obtained for way too many theory characters. A lot of the operas, if not absolutely all, were predicated on classical books and obtained for bigger orchestras than experienced heretofore been standard. The operas which Traetta made up were both severe and comic.
