Tenebrae

A specialist chamber choir formed and founded simply by former Westminster Cathedral chorister Nigel Brief, Tenebrae produced its first appearance in London in 2001. The group centered on middle ages chant and renaissance parts, but also had taken into account more sophisticated source materials for a fresh take on an extremely outdated sound. The group, whose associates have backgrounds in a few from the U.K.’s leading choral groupings — the Monteverdi Choir, the Choir of Westminster Abbey, as well as the Choirs of King’s University, Oxbridge, for example — provides toured all around the globe and performed in such areas as Spain, Bermuda, and america. With nearly all their recorded function released on Signum Classics, the casual one-off on various other labels had not been unheard of, along with a live performance using the Chamber Orchestra of European countries premiered on Warner Classics. What produced Tenebrae a lot more of the standout within the choir picture was their insistence on executing just in candlelit circumstances, the difficulty which resulted in the light — since it had been — being looked after in-house, by Nigel Brief and Tenebrae itself.
