Using their lo-fi aesthetic and crackling blips of analog, the French DJ/producer pair Mister Modo & Ugly Mac Beer concoct dark, murky soundscapes that reveal their hip-hop heroes MF Doom, RZA, and DJ Muggs. Mister Modo’s experience leans even more toward crafting beats while Ugly Mac pc Beer acts as the primary scratch technician. Mac pc Beer had founded his personal record label, Diess Productions, in 1999, that was mainly centered on DJ-related vinyl fabric and beat-juggling materials, before teaming up with Modo for the very first time over the 2005 7″ “Weed with Root base in Hell.” The duo collected likewise minded hip-hop performers, like Mike Ladd, MF Grimm, as well as the Monsta Isle Czars, because of their full-length work MO Dougly Strange Tales, released on Diess in 2007.
