Sunhouse

This Nottingham, England-based outfit were grouped with other British bands from the late 90s, including Gomez, the Unbelievable Truth and See, due to their perceived musical and lyrical earnestness. This significant image obtained them the rather derogatory and unrepresentative ‘feces rock’ label. Songwriter Gavin Clarke originally fulfilled film movie director Shane Meadows when both had been employed in dead-end careers on the Alton Towers amusement park. Many years afterwards, Meadows approached Clarke to supply tracks for the soundtrack to his acclaimed low-budget film, Little Period. Clarke quickly shaped a music group for the task, recruiting guitarist Paul Bacon and two previous people of indie music group the Telescopes, bass participant Robert Brooks (b. 11 Apr 1969, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, Britain) and drummer Dominic Dillon (b. 26 Sept 1964, Bolton, Lancashire, Britain). The music group signed a agreement with Independiente Information and completed additional soundtrack function for Meadows’ feature-length debut, Twenty-Four Seven. The limited release Small Period EP and solitary ‘Monkey Dread’ launched the music group’s full-length debut, Crazy AROUND THE Weekend, released in 1998. Dealing with maker John Reynolds (Sinéadvertisement O’Connor), the music group continuing their practice of documenting outside a studio room environment. Their acoustic-based tunes had been augmented by washes of strings and body organ, earning evaluations to Nick Drake, Tom Waits and Beth Orton. Clarke’s cinéma vérité design lyrics, in the mean time, soared above their soundtrack roots. Sadly, this became the just Sunhouse launch. Clarke later on documented with Clayhill.
