The folk and pop traditions of southern Italy as well as the Mediterranean area supply the foundation for Puglia, Italy based septet Tavernanova. Created in 1994, the group offers continued to excitement Italian audiences using their melodic lyrics and aggressively rhythmic music. The recipients of the Italian music award as “one of the better Italian globe music organizations,” in 1997, Tavernanova was praised by Italian publication Music! for his or her “traditional interplay of contemporary sounds and historic cadences.” Tavernanova in the beginning represented the eyesight of bassist and composer Pierluigi Balducci (given birth to Oct 3, 1971), a veteran sideman for such jazz and folk performers as Fioravanti, Andy J. Forest, Sarah Jane Morris, and Luis Sepulveda. Balducci remaining Tavernanova in 1998 to create Pierliuigi Balducci Quartethno.
