Seth Kauffman

The Chapel Hill, NC-based Seth Kauffman first came for the indie rock scene in the later ’90s as an associate from the roots soul group the Choosy Beggars. Lo-fi, ramshackle, and organic, the Beggars had been everything Kauffman cherished, but his musical lifestyle wasn’t often this unrefined. Traditional violin lessons started at age four, however when he used your guitar at age 15, the blues arrived to his lifestyle, as do a like of groove. Clueing in to the feeling from the music he was arriving at like, Kauffman “de-learned” his traditional training and begun to strike numerous new musical instruments. With Bryan Cates he shaped the Choosy Beggars, playing countless displays and launching four albums. Beyond the music group he was acquiring solo adventures towards the African bush, the Swiss Alps, and Jamaica, experiencing the rhythms each trip offered. Back, he mixed ska, mento, blues, Latin jazz, and blues and started recording an record he categorized as “lo-fi NEW YORK funk.” Composing, creating, and playing every device, Kauffman provided listeners their initial taste in Feb of 2006 when he released the Natural powder EP. Beck, G. Like, Tom Waits, the Wailers, the Light Stripes, yet others had been names used to greatly help describe his audio, but each just handled upon one little element of this complicated yet natural music. Per month afterwards he produced his full-length debut for the Hightone label with Ting, called after a grapefruit soda pop Kauffman liked while in Jamaica.
