André Persiany

b. André Paul Stephane Persiani, 19 November 1927, Paris, France, d. 2 January 2004, Paris, France. Persiany started playing piano as a kid and by his early twenties was an achieved leader of little groupings playing swing-style jazz. He caused many touring American jazz performers including Costs Coleman, Buck Clayton and Lionel Hampton through the past due 40s and early 50s. In the middle-50s he transferred to NY where he used several rings before signing up for the Jonah Jones quartet in 1961. He continued to be with Jones for some of the 10 years before time for his homeland. In the 70s he once again played with going to Americans, including Kitty Anderson, Arnett Cobb, Charlie Shavers, Budd Johnson and Milt Buckner, in whose playing design Persiany found characteristics he enjoyed and thought we would emulate. He used a solid rhythmic pulse and a definite choice for the golf swing era design of jazz piano.
