Petronio Franceschini

Students of both Perti and Corsi (he later on taught Giacomo Perti, Lorenzo Perti’s nephew who became an accomplished operatic composer) Petronio was among the 1st members to become listed on the Bolognese Philharmonic Academy. He was known for his operas early and acceded to the positioning of cellist at Bologna Cathedral (1680). Franceschini’s operas used a trumpet-tenor dialogue frequently and had been rife with energetic tempos. Compositions also included sonatas — one for trumpets — people, motets, psalms and cantatas.
