Minona Carneiro

Although he died young, Minona Carneiro transpired in history among the most significant Brazilian singer/composers from the ’20s and ’30s. Carneiro, who was simply blessed Severino de Figueredo Carneiro in Recife, Brazil, in 1902, specific in embolada — a multi-colored design of music that was very popular in Northeastern Brazil. Back the ’20s and ’30s, embolada was regarded peasant music and its own lyrics (that have been often funny or sarcastic) attended to the problems of Northeastern Brazil’s working-class. Carneiro was a significant influence on various other embolada artists of this period, including Manezinho Araújo (an individual friend) as well as the duo of Jararaca & Ratinho. Unfortunately, Carneiro was suffering from serious health issues; he was just 34 when disease claimed his lifestyle in 1936.
