Hall Aflame

Having acted as an integral songwriter on Steel Church’s initial two seminal albums, guitarist Kurt Vanderhoof soon sick and tired of the hardships of touring, and give up the group to go after new musical passions that would enable him to use closer to house. The effect was a fresh band known as Hall Aflame, which also highlighted vocalist Ron Lowd, bassist Brian Smith and drummer Tom Weber. They documented a bluesy hard rock and roll album titled Assured Forever for IRS in 1991. The record, nevertheless, struck out with both public most importantly and with Steel Church supporters, who probably anticipated Vanderhoof to stick to his previous, metallic path, and thus spelling Hall Aflame’s generally unheralded demise just months following its release.
