After Tag Lewis (drums, acoustic guitar, synths, vocals) and Terry Borden (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, synth) still left Idaho (the duo performed on 1996’s 3 Sheets towards the Blowing wind and toured with Jeff Martin’s band) to pursue an outlet that involved even more of their input. They shaped Flotilla with Karina Argudo (synthesizer, vocals) and Joe Kennedy (bass, vocals) release a a self-titled record on Globe Domination in 1999. Billing themselves as Eno-esque space rock and roll, the record didn’t actually resemble Brian Eno very much, aside from placing a bizarre spin on standard pop song buildings. It actually dropped more consistent with brand-new wave revivalists just like the Renting and THE BEST.
