Lennie Felix

b. 16 August 1920, London, Britain, d. 29 Dec 1980. Although Felix started his profession in the years instantly before World Battle II, it had been in the first post-war period that he became a recognised pianist in the London jazz membership picture. In the 50s he performed in the united kingdom with Freddy Randall and Harry Silver, and in NY with Henry ‘Crimson’ Allen and Buster Bailey. Towards the finish of the 10 years he was an associate of Wally Fawkes’ Troglodytes. He continuing to try out through the 60s and 70s, producing information and radio broadcasts. At his greatest like a soloist or leading a trio, Felix shown the characteristics of dominating musical personalities such as for example Body fat Waller, Earl Hines and Artwork Tatum. Perhaps due to such mentors he was temperamentally unsuited towards the part of accompanist plus some of his musical partnerships finished disastrously. One, with going to American cornetist Ruby Braff, a guy as yet not known for his reticence in working with awkward associates, finished with visitors declaring, ‘I requested a piano participant and they offered me an illness.’ Through the Xmas time of year, 1980, Felix was struck by an automobile as he was leaving a London jazz golf club and he died about 29 Dec that year.
