Reptet

The Seattle-based jazz ensemble Reptet formed in 1999 having a declaration of purpose: “To compose, interpret and improvise music that inspires growth through freedom and self-discipline.” Drummer John Ewing have been playing in various bands with differing designs before he began to look for music artists ready to play jazz and improvised music specifically. Through open up jam classes he eventually discovered a stable band of performers with potential Reptet pianist Stefan Nelson becoming a member of the group in past due 1999. Target audience response was enthusiastic as well as the group began getting presents for gigs from many local jazz locations. Saxophonist Tobi Rock joined in the summertime of 2000, and with bassist Evan Flory-Barnes becoming involved 2001, Reptet acquired its most steady lineup. Monktail Innovative Music Concern released the group’s self-titled debut Compact disc in 2003.
