Eugene, OR-based art-metal trio Floater was formed in 1993 by vocalist/bassist Robert Wynia and drummer Peter Cornett, who’d previously teamed within the group Henry’s Kid; recruiting guitarist David Amador, they quickly documented a six-song demonstration that caught the eye of indie label Elemental, liberating their debut LP Kitchen sink in 1994. Glyph adopted a yr later, notching a significant local strike with “The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy”; creation issues delayed the discharge of Floater’s third recording 1998’s Angels within the Flesh and Devils within the Bone, along with a yr later on the group released a live record, THE FANTASTIC Release.
