David Occhipinti

A Canadian jazz guitarist, David Occhipinti has played phases all around the globe, and continues to be nominated for just two Juno Awards in his local land. Born Dec 26, 1966, in Toronto, Occhipinti found his first acoustic guitar at 13 and was composing at 16. He came into a university music system in 1984, and in 1989 started going to the Banff College of Good Arts. Upon his departure from Banff, Occhipinti shifted to NY, and then started a regular efficiency routine in Italy. In 1996 the guitarist shifted back again to Canada after 2 yrs of constant efficiency and home in Italy, and within a yr Occhipinti released his 1st recording, a self-titled affair. The follow-up, Syzygy, premiered in 1999, a yr that also designated the forming of the duo task Occhipinti shaped with tenor saxophonist Mike Murley. Their 2002 launch, Duologue, was nominated for several honours, including a Juno. Although Occhipinti would go back to his single/group task, the Murley & Occhipinti duo released a follow-up in 2005, entitled Duologue, Vol. 2. Intersection, the 3rd release through the David Occhipinti Group, presented Murley on saxophone, Andrew Downing on bass, and Terry Clarke on drums. The lineup would come back for their following launch, Forty Revolutions, which strike the roads in Oct of 2007. Furthermore to his documented function, in 2006 Occhipinti made up “Four Items for String Quartet” specifically for the Madawaska String Quartet. Occhipinti obtained another Juno Honor nomination in 2008.
