Caroline af Ugglas

Caroline af Ugglas is a Swedish soul-pop vocalist who also rose to popularity like a contestant in the annual Melodifestivalen, showing up in both 2007 and 2009 contests. Given birth to Caroline Thérese af Ugglas Liljedahl on Apr 7, 1972, and hailing from Bromma, Sweden, she produced her solo recording debut in 1997 with Ida Blue within the label V2 Music, accompanied by Mrs. Boring in 1999. Small success came of the albums, nevertheless, and af Ugglas didn’t come back with another recording for quite some time. She finally came back in 2005 with Twiggs, an eponymous recording released within the label Audio Pollution with a band where she was the frontwoman and co-songwriter. Regrettably, little success arrived of this recording either. Af Ugglas’ big break arrived finally in 2007 when she certified for the year’s Melodifestivalen with her track “Tror på Drill down” and concurrently released Joplin på Svenska, a tribute recording to American rock and roll story Janis Joplin, many of whose tunes were modified to Swedish. While af Ugglas dropped short of earning the Melodifestivalen, completing in 6th place, Joplin på Svenska was a big strike, reaching number 3 within the Swedish albums graph, and “Tror på Drill down” was also a big strike, reaching amount 12 in the singles graph. A few years afterwards in 1999 af Ugglas competed once more in the Melodifestivalen, completing in second place this time around with her tune “Snälla Snälla.” Released as an individual, “Snälla Snälla” was a smash strike, reaching number 2 in the Swedish graphs. The associated full-length record Så Gör Jag Det Igen (2009) was furthermore a smash strike, topping the graphs.
