Throne of Katarsis

Throne of Katarsis formed in Norway in 2003 with a straightforward mission: to try out cold, grim dark metal within the common ’90s design. The lineup is simply as simple: Vardalv on drums, and Grimnisse (aka Thor Erik Helgesen) on vocals and all the equipment (bassist Lord Imalas and guitarist Godhate circular out the live lineup). While Throne of Katarsis hews to dark metal’s buzzsaw riffing, droning blastbeats, and croaky rasps, liberal dosages of classical guitar add depth to its audio. Lyrically, the music group explores blasphemous styles typical because of its genre, with motivation from the organic configurations of its homeland. In March 2004, Throne of Katarsis debuted using the Unholy Holocaustwinds demonstration, which was documented in three times on the four-track cassette recorder. Popular demand resulted in the demonstration, at first limited by 40 copies, becoming reissued on cassette and vinyl fabric by German label Warfront Productions, and on Compact disc by British label Paradigms Recordings. Notably, the demo’s last track used field recordings of Grimnisse’s footsteps while strolling via a snowy forest. Another demonstration, Blodslakt, followed later on that year. Nevertheless, it never noticed official release because of addition of its paths within the band’s full-length debut, An Eternal Dark Horizon, on Candlelight Information in 2007. In Oct 2007, Throne of Katarsis performed at Waltershausen in Germany, its 1st live appearance beyond Norway.
