The Nudge

The IDM meets post-rock collective Nudge feature multi-instrumentalists Brian Foote and Paul Dickow and vocalist Honey Owens as their creative core, and show members of likeminded bands such as for example Fontanelle, Jessamine, Sunn, Crisis, and Nice Great as collaborators. The group shaped in the past due ’90s and embarked on intensive jam sessions which were afterwards cut and pasted right into a glitchy fusion of live and designed shows. This modus operandi was apparent on Nudge’s initial album, 2002’s Technique Doubt, that was released by Foote’s label, Outward Music Business. The following season saw the discharge of Elaborate Gadgets for Filtering Turmoil, a more elaborate affair that was released by Tigerbeat6. In 2005 they produced the leap to Kranky because of their next record, Cached. The band continued hiatus as its members pursued other music: Dickow done his post-rock meets ambient dub outfit Technique, while Owens created the softly surreal project Valet and Foote worked being a producer on many Kranky releases. They reunited in fall 2008 for the Audraglint EP Infinity Padlock, and released their fourth record, As effective as Eliminated, in early fall 2009.
