The Roane County Ramblers

The Roane State Ramblers of Tennessee are remembered due to recordings they designed for Columbia Information in 1928 and 1929. The music group was shaped in the past due 20s and was led by Jimmy McCarroll (b. 1892, Cumberland Mountains, East Tennessee, USA), a specialist fiddler, who stated Cherokee ancestry, experienced a plantation near Oak Ridge and was something of the eccentric. The initial members had been Luke Brandon (acoustic guitar), John Kelly (mandolin) and Howard Wyatt (banjo). Curley Fox produced several recordings using the group in 1929. They by no means played as a completely professional device, all experienced full-time employment that they had been reluctant to stop. When offered the chance to record they dropped travelling to NY and in result, they were in fact documented in Johnson Town. The materials included ‘Johnson Town Rag’ and ‘Totally free JUST A LITTLE Bird’ and several of the tunes had been recorded later on by additional early string rings. Nothing appears known of the many users, except that McCarroll later on played with additional models and Brandon’s child, Luke Jnr., later on founded himself on many Knoxville channels including WNOXMid-Day Merry-Go-Round.
