Shaped in 2000 with a multi-national band of folk artists, D? imh contains instrumentalists from Eire, Scotland, USA and Canada’s Cape Breton Isle. D? imh (pronounced da-eve) performs traditional music from many of these resources aswell as elsewhere and also present original tracks. The band continues to be constant in its employees, which includes included Colm O’Rua (b. Eire; banjo, whistle, mandola), Angus MacKenzie (b. Cape Breton Isle, Canada; bagpipes), Gabe McVarish (b. California, USA; fiddle), Ross Martin (b. Scotland; electric guitar), Adam Bremner (b. Scotland; bodhrán), and Calum Alex MacMillan (b. Isle of Lewis, Scotland; vocals). Live and on record, they have already been joined sometimes by others, including cellist John Pursor, flute and whistle participant Iain MacDonald, vocalist Anne Martin, Galician gaitas and recorder participant Anxo Lorenzo, pianist Ingrid Henderson, bouzouki and lute participant Xose Liz de Cea, as well as the Clachnabrochan Gaelic Choir. D? imh can be an exhilarating musical encounter, performing up-tempo tunes including jigs, reels and slides, with flair, lively enthusiasm and sometimes urgent excitement. The regularity of personnel provides effectively limited ensemble playing that delivers a secure foundation for striking single playing.
