The Mummers

Influenced by marching rings, big rings, and fairgrounds, baroque pop collective the Mummers had been created in 2006 by indie vocalist Raissa Khan-Panni, guitarist Paul Sandrone, and orchestral composer Tag Horwood. Raissa, a traditional music graduate from Bristol University or college, released three albums (Sleeping Insects, Meantime, and Believer) in the past due noughties to crucial acclaim, but small product sales. After parting organization with her label, Polydor, she became a waitress inside a Brixton cafe before teaming up with Sandrone and Horwood at his transformed treehouse studio room in Brighton, alongside an ever-changing selection of regional musicians. Named following the middle ages door-to-door carrying out troupes, the Mummers released their well-received debut recording, Tale to inform, in Apr 2009, but tragedy struck five weeks later on when Horwood was discovered hanged at his parents’ house. In 2011, the group came back having a six-track EP, Mink Hollow Street, featuring new songs and material created with Horwood before his loss of life.
