The Beefeaters

Not much is well known concerning this Dallas, TX, outfit except that these were remarkably similar using respects with their previously namesakes, the short-lived proto-Byrds outfit formed simply by Jim McGuinn, Gene Clark, and David Crosby. The Tx group sang great, Beatlesque harmonies (circa Plastic Spirit) and utilized a 12-string Rickenbacker prominently and in extremely melodic style on “Switch My Brain,” however they could also rock and roll out, as around the punkish “Don’t Harm Me.” Their legacy, precisely two songs, could be noticed on Collectables’ triple-CD launch Acid Visions: THE ENTIRE Collection, Vol. 2.
