Ted Fields

Western jazz fans from the past due ’20s and ’30s may experienced the widest contact with this drummer, whose relatively brief career had been winding straight down in the ’40s. Ted Areas performed in the tempo section of rings led by both Sam Wooding and Willie Lewis, enterprising performers who noticed too little opportunity in the home and made a decision to try exporting their music overseas. The effect was some a decade of Western gigs for Areas, you start with a Wooding tour in the springtime of 1928. Between 1931 and 1938 the drummer was after that associated with Lewis until finally time for NEW YORK. In 1939 Areas drummed for the Benny Carter Big Music group in the Savoy in NEW YORK; this displayed his last big-time jazz gig.
