Lanin’s Arcadians

Septet come up with by ubiquitous music group organizer Sam Lanin, well known for the current presence of Miff Mole and Frank Trumbauer. Others in the lineup circa 1924 had been Roy Johnson, Chuck Miller, Rube Bloom, Frank DiPrima, and Ward Archer — Johnson, Bloom, DiPrima, and Archer got previously performed and documented with Mole and Trumbauer in the Brunswick in-house clothing the Natural cotton Pickers led by clarinetist Bennie Kreuger. They’re greatest kept in mind today for a set of edges from a May 1924 NY program that constitute a number of the 22-year-old Trumbauer’s first extant recorded function.
