Experimental trio 33.3 formed around the campus of Yale University or college in the fall months of 1997; composed of cellist/bassist Dominique Davison, guitarist Brian Alfred and drummer Steven Wall space, the group released their debut LP on Appearance Information in 1999. Takes on Music arrived the next year.

Chicago-based experimental ensemble L’Altra comprised Lindsay Anderson, Joseph Costa, Ken Dyber, Eden British and Marc Hellner. Their gorgeously atmospheric self-titled debut EP premiered on Appearance in middle-1999. Music of the Sinking Occasion adopted a year later on.
