Jess Conrad

b. 1935, Brixton, London, Britain. Christened Jesse Adam, Conrad started his career being a repertory professional and film extra before getting cast being a pop vocalist in a tv play, Rock-A-Bye Barney. Originally, his singing tone of voice was overdubbed by that of Gary Mills, but in a short time life imitated artwork and Conrad was changed right into a pop adonis. Championed by tv producer Jack Great, he made an appearance in Oh Boy!, Wham! and Guy Meets Female, which resulted in a recording agreement with Decca Information and some minimal early 60s strikes with ‘Cherry Pie’, ‘Secret Female’ and ‘Pretty Jenny’. When his documenting profession waned, he continuing acting in low quality films and pantomime, and in the 70s made an appearance in the musicals Joseph AS WELL AS THE Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Godspell aswell as going for a cameo component in the Sex Pistols’ celluloid excursion, THE FANTASTIC Rock ‘N’ Move Swindle. Among Conrad’s early singles, ‘This Pullover’, was belatedly called the worst one ever made within a novelty compilation of pop atrocities. Conrad continuing to work through the entire 80s, and, in 1993, shed his ‘squeaky-clean’ picture when he made an appearance as Prince Alluring, with comedians Charlie Drake and Jim Davidson, in Davidson’s ‘blue’ pantomime, Sinderella.
