Summoning

An Austrian dark metal outfit having a penchant for pairing alternately aggressive and ambient dark metallic with lyrics that invoke writer J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Globe mythology, Summoning was shaped in the town of Vienna in 1993 across the skills of Michael Gregor, Richard Lederer, and Alexander Trondly, who pass the stage titles Silenius, Protector, and Trifixion, respectively. The group released its debut recording, Lugburz, in 1995 via Napalm Information, accompanied by Minas Morgul (also in 1995), the previous which would end up being the very first and last outing with Trondly. Gregor and Lederer would continue being a duo for following albums Dol Guldur (1996), Stronghold (1999), Allow Mortal Heroes Sing Your Popularity (2001), Oath Bound (2006), and Aged Mornings Dawn (2013), by using a rotating ensemble of guest music artists.
