After touring the neighborhood club scene, Puerto Rican Latin rock-band Porfolio had the chance to open for Argentine singer/songwriter Fito Paez and Mexican pop star Alejandra Guzmán, furthermore, they used La Oreja de Vehicle Gogh and Bohemia Suburbana, amongst others. In 1996, Porfolio participated in an area compilation known as Puerto Rock and roll and released their debut recording, Hablen Ya, in 1998.
