Sprites

Following a implosion of Washington, D.C.-centered indie rock act Barcelona, singer/guitarist and soccer enthusiast Jason Korzen shaped Sprites in 2002 to move away from the down sides and musical compromises he hated that was included with employed in a band. Therefore, Korzen purposely produced Sprites using the purpose of its users being only a revolving cast of close friends (without the “support music group” label) who arrived together to hold out and perform, special of commitment stresses. Korzen and his wife Amy continued to be the constants as numerous collaborators arrived and proceeded to go, including previous bandmates of his from Barcelona. He spent an extended post-Barcelona wintertime cooped up in the cellar recording demos on the four-track; these ultimately converted into the music for the debut Sprites providing, Starling, Spiders, Tiger and Sprites, released in early 2003 on March Information. Sparse instrumentation dotted the discharge, that was a departure in the synth indie pop noises of his previous band. Throughout the album’s discharge, Sprites performed sporadic shows, like the CMJ Celebration in NEW YORK and a short tour using the Sea Blue. Summer months 2003 discovered them on the highway using the Lucksmiths prior to the six-song EP Bionic Hands made an appearance in 2004 through Spain-based indie, Lejos Discos. The next calendar year was spent composing their follow-up, a lot of the music getting fleshed out in the rehearsal space with everyone playing live. Documented and made by Korzen himself — most everything performed over the record was by simply him and Amy — the greater new wave-inspired Contemporary Gameplay was released in early Sept 2006 on Darla Information.
