Sandro Cerino

The classical tradition continues to be fused with jazz improvisation and hook-laden pop by multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and big band director Sandro Cerino. His past tasks consist of an interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Months performed along with his group the Crescendo Big Music group, an album offering re-workings of music popularized by vocalist Daniela Panetta, and theatrical collaborations with poet Ariele D’Ambrosio at Teatro Semaforo Verde. As well as Assaxination, the eight-saxophone music group he created in 1993, Cerino performed on the internationally broadcast Celebration from the Sassofono and documented the imaginative record The Unusual Case of Dr. Saxyll and Mr. Eight 3 years afterwards. The son of the musician, Cerino discovered to play an extended list of musical instruments as a kid. Shifting to Milan in 1982, he proved helpful as an arranger of musical displays, including Mi Rifaccio Il Trucco and Bum Bum All’Italiana, and movies, including The Staff. Furthermore to directing a huge band on tv and at celebrations, he caused such rings as Six Mobiles and Atypical Trio. An early on supporter of digital instrumentation, Cerino was the first Italian musician to employ a saxophone MIDI.
