Russell Mills

Multi-media artist Russell Mills first earned notice in music circles for his cover styles for functions including Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Harold Budd, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Robert Fripp and Nine In . Nails; among exhibiting his paintings, assemblages and collages through the entire world, he also collaborated with Eno around the publication Even more Dark than Shark and with Sylvian around the sound/video set up Ember Glimpse: The Permanence of Memory space. Mills’ 1st foray into music arrived in 1982, when he caused ex-Wire users Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis (after that documenting as Dome) around the ambient recording Mzui/Waterloo Gallery. In 1996, Mills released his debut ambient documenting Unusual Familiar, which presented the infinite acoustic guitar of co-writer Michael Brook; the all-star Pearl & Umbra adopted in early 2000, with Mills having used Undark as the name of his moving support group. The follow-up had not been long in arriving; Strange Familiar made an appearance just a couple months later on in the summertime of 2000, offering lots of the same collaborators and Undark staff as its forerunner.
