Stone Garden

The Speer brothers, Gary (guitar), Paul (guitar), and Neal (drums and piano), were at the core of what would eventually become Stone Backyard. The Lewiston, Identification preteen siblings from a musical family members, used their devices in the first 1960s. Their dad constructed them makeshift amplifiers out of aged stereo equipment as well as the Three Sizes were given birth to. Still barely teens and already rating paid gigs, the trio quickly required on junior high schoolmate Dan Merrell as its full-time bass participant, and along with his addition used English-style ruffled t-shirts and a fresh name, Knights of Audio. The quartet produced its first studio room documenting in 1965, and started to perform regularly around Lewiston, ultimately drawing the interest of aspiring supervisor Don Tunnell. With psychedelia completely blossom, Tunnell renamed the group Rock Backyard in 1967 after viewing a poster using the name. They started growing their locks long and exchanged within their Carnaby Road duds for Nehru overcoats, as well as the quartet created a repertoire packed with songs from the Doorways, the Jimi Hendrix Encounter, Cream, the Beatles, as well as the Rolling Rocks and a smattering of its original materials. By 1969, Rock Garden was prepared to record the last mentioned, and a pal with a fairly sophisticated basement studio room helped released the “Oceans Inside Me”/”End My Considering” 45 one, a pressing of 300 that truly earned significant regional radio play as well as the see of disk jockey Chris Adams, who became a vocal supporter from the foursome, ultimately helping to have them time in a specialist recording service in Vancouver, WA. Gary Speer still left Lewiston as well as the band to wait college in nov 1969, and was changed by organ participant and lead vocalist Russ Pratt. The next year, three associates graduated senior high school, leading to extra adjustments. Pratt and Merrell give up and both staying Speer brothers recruited Charles Weisgerber and business lead vocalist Rand Harrison. The last mentioned did not workout, opening the entranceway for the come back of Gary Speer in 1971. This edition of Stone Backyard transferred to Seattle and earned David Lee on electrical piano and vocals. Weisgerber was changed by John Helton in the band’s last incarnation, which passed the name of the Speer Brothers Music group. They split up in the first weeks of 1972.
