Proyecto Uno

Originally formed about Fresh York’s East Side mainly because a normal merengue band, Proyecto Uno steadily assimilated a number of urban American influences to their sound, including techno and house, plus hip-hop and R&B-influenced salsa. Creator Nelson Zapata was created and elevated in the Dominican Republic, but after shifting with his family members to NY while in middle college, he began hearing American sounds aswell. He began documenting with the solitary “Brinca!!,” by using bilingual rapper Magic Juan. It became a large strike in South and Central America aswell as Latin parts of metropolitan America. The debut Proyecto Uno LP, Todo un Mundo, did likewise well, as well as the group toured Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina. By 1993, Proyecto Uno wanted to become popular in the American marketplace, which year’s recording In Da Home presented two American freestyle vocalists, Johnny Salgado and Erik Morales. The solitary “Un Tiburon” became well-known over the Latin and membership graphs, while 1996’s New Period also do well. Remixes implemented in 1998.
