Probably one of the most dynamic sambistas ever sold, composer of more than 300 recorded tunes, Noca da Portela may be the inventor of “Portela Querida” (interpreted by Elza Soares), “Isto Tem Que Acabar” (recorded by Ataulpho Alves Júnior), “Capital carry out Samba” (recorded by Eliana Pittman), “Condição” (registered from the MPB-4), and “A Queda” (recorded by Sônia Lemos). In 1989, Dominguinhos perform Estácio documented “Cena Last” (with Toninho Nascimento). His initial Compact disc, Brasilidade, was documented in 1990. In 1995, da Portela gained the Estandarte de Ouro award using the samba “Gosto Que Me Enrosco” and Maria Bethânia documented “Ilumina.” In 1996, da Portela distributed to Roberto Serrão the record Manda Me Chamar. In 1997, Paulinho da Viola documented “Peregrino.” In 1998, da Portela gained the next Estandarte de Ouro with “Operating-system Olhos da Noite,” and in 1999, the 3rd, using the samba “Pelos Caminhos de Minas Gerais.”
