Moomin

Sebastian Genz (aka Moomin) described his musical career by crafting refined, yet effective, deep house. In the first ’90s, Genz was focused on collecting hip-hop information. By 1995, and with an evergrowing collection, he began to DJ in his hometown of Kiel, Germany. Around once, he began tinkering with music creation, using a basic DOS program referred to as Fastracker. He steadily incorporated more equipment into his strategies, including an MPC to test the aged jazz, funk, and hip-hop information he had obtained. Ultimately, Genz became disenfranchised from the German hip-hop picture, transitioning to accommodate music rather. The switch in genre needed a big change of area, therefore he migrated to Germany’s innovative capitol, Berlin. More than a decade later on, this year 2010, Genz released his debut EP via Goal; he wasn’t as worried about the very long await his debut as he was about creating it. The EP received reviews that are positive, leading to German label Smallville Information — having a roster including Move D, Christopher Rau, and label founders Smallpeople — to attain out to Genz. They urged him release a a full-length recording, leading to 2011’s THE STORYPLOT About You. Genz’s creation style fit flawlessly using the Smallville ethos of understated and thoughtful home, developing a close romantic relationship using the label in the years that adopted. After the achievement of his debut full-length and a string of EPs, Smallville motivated him release a another Moomin recording, leading to 2016’s A Thought.
