Mike Casey

Saxophonist Mike Casey can be an adept jazz improvisor having a knotty, harmonically high method of acoustic post-bop. A indigenous of Hartford, Connecticut, Casey 1st started playing saxophone within the 5th quality. By his teenagers, he was a gifted performer and improvisor, abilities he honed while going to the higher Hartford Academy for the Executing Arts. After senior high school, he gained his music level from your Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz in the University or college of Hartford’s Hartt College. While there, he obtained valuable teaching from such luminaries as saxophonists Abraham Burton and Rene McLean, trombonist Steve Davis, among others. Also during this time period, he was chosen to take part in the Betty Carter Jazz Forward Program in the Kennedy Middle in Washington, D.C. Like a sideman, Casey spent some time working having a bevy of titles, including Charles Tolliver, Nat Reeves, Benito Gonzalez, Tarus Mateen, Marc Cary, among others. In 2017 he released his debut recording, The Audio of Shock: Live in the Sidedoor.
