Marc Savoy

Marc Savoy brands himself a “crusader” for Cajun lifestyle and, therefore, is ranked near the top of the revivalists who followed the Balfa Brothers’ example and championed natural Cajun music. Savoy’s commitment towards the music contains building Cajun accordions at his workship in Eunice, LA, in addition to playing the music and talking about its history at festivals all over the world. He and his wife Ann (vocalist and guitarist using the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Music group and writer of the wonderful Cajun Music: A Representation of the People) were the main topic of Les Blank’s PBS documentary, Marc and Ann. In Sept 1992, Savoy received the renowned Heritage Award through the Country wide Endowment for the Arts.
