Makhaya Mahlangu

South Africa’s jazz custom were only available in the 1950s by such influential music artists as Abdullah Ibrahim (Buck Brand) and Hugh Masekela was inherited by saxophonist, percussionist, and composer Makhaya Mahlangu. Alongside guitarist/vocalist Sipho Gumede and keyboardist Jabu Nkosi, Mahlangu created among South Africa’s very best Afro-fusion rings, Sakhile, in 1982. Through the a bit more than a 10 years that these were collectively, Sakhile helped provide the jazz of South Africa towards the worldwide stage. Because the group’s disbanding in 1995, Mahlangu offers remained active like a program musician and it has performed with Moses Molelekwa, Sibongile Khumalo, Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu, and African jazz originators Abdullah Ibrahim and Hugh Masekela. As well as bassist Victor Ntoni, Mahlangu organized and aimed The Untold Tale, a tribute towards the jazz music artists of days gone by. Not only is it presented in the Agfa Theatre within the Square in Sandton, the display was broadcast on SABC2. Mahlangu in addition has performed with Iconoclast, an organization featuring four decades of music artists.
