M.E.S.H.

Beneath the name M.E.S.H., American-born, Berlin-based manufacturer James Whipple creates hard-edged membership music that pushes the jagged beats of grime in to the world of abstract audio design. Originally located in Southern California and previously known with the moniker Ghosthunt, Whipple shifted to Berlin after he graduated university, and eventually began an eclectic membership night known as Janus along with likewise minded manufacturer Lotic. M.E.S.H.’s first discharge was the 2012 EP Talk about the Blame on Dyssembler, which highlighted a remix by Teengirl Illusion. M.E.S.H. exchanged remixes with Fatima Al Qadiri and Arca and released many well-received mixes, and was agreed upon to Costs Kouligas’ Skillet label in 2014. His initial release in the label was the critically acclaimed Scythians EP, that was accompanied by an EP of remixes. The entire year 2015 saw the discharge of digital one “Infra-Dusk”/”Infra-Dawn” on Renaissance Man’s Dark Ocean label, aswell as M.E.S.H.’s full-length debut, Piteous Gate, that was much less club-friendly than his prior produces, rather creating punishing, bombastic soundscapes. An EP entitled Damaged Merc implemented in 2016.
