Leon Pappy Selph & His Blue Ridge Playboys

b. Spencer Leigh Leon Selph, 7 Apr 1914, Houston, Tx, USA, d. 8 January 1999, Houston, Tx, USA. Selph performed classical music for the violin as a kid, including a spell using the Houston Youngsters Symphony Orchestra. After that, in his mid-teens, he became a member of Bob Wills as well as the Light Crust Doughboys. When Wills shifted into the larger world that exposed before him, Selph opted to remain behind. He shaped his own music group, the Blue Ridge Playboys, in 1936, playing extremely billed honky tonk music. Among music artists in this music group over time had been Floyd Tillman, Moon Mullican, Ted Daffan, Bob Dunn and Cliff Bruner.
