Kristy Kruger

Vocalist/songwriter Kristy Kruger pulls motivation from varied resources — like the catalogs of Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris, Bessie Smith, and Aimee Mann — to make a diverse make of Americana. Having performed piano because the age group of five, she started embracing structure as a higher school student, earning several contests in her indigenous Texas and generating a music scholarship or grant from the University or college of Southern California. Once enrolled, she put together a music group and strike the LA club circuit to get her songs, many of which later on found their method onto her debut recording, 1998’s Bachelor of Apathy. Kruger released the recording on her personal label, GET IT DONE Yerself Information, which also released the follow-up work The Sound I Make in 2000. While on the highway in support her sophomore recording, Kruger crossed pathways with maker/engineer Andrew Gilchrist, who experienced previously caused Ani DiFranco. Gilchrist decided to make Kruger’s next launch, as well as the songwriter relocated to New Orleans to record An Unauthorized Guideline to the BODY, an anatomically themed recording that combined the songwriter with a complete band for the very first time. Tunes from a Deceased Man’s Couch adopted in 2006.
