Alternate country-rock singer/songwriter Kevin Gordon was created and raised in Western Monroe, Lousiana, and was raised on a reliable diet from the area’s indigenous swamp blues, honky tonk and rockabilly. A released poet and graduate from the University or college of Iowa Authors Workshop, he teamed with maker and E Road Music group bassist Garry Tallent to record his debut Illinois 5 a.m., released in 1997 within the Nashville-based Motherlode label; Right down to the Wall structure followed in middle-2000. Gordon’s tunes are also documented by rockabilly story Sonny Burgess and All of the King’s Males, an random band created by onetime Elvis Presley sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J. Montana.
