John J. Becker

John J. Becker, “The Musical Crusader of Saint Paul,” was a number among the band of early modernists creating the so-called “American Five,” along with Charles Ives, Carl Ruggles, Wallingford Riegger, and Henry Cowell. A 1905 graduate from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Becker researched with Carl Busch and Wilhelm Middelschulte and trained at an obscure Conservatory in North Tx before outbreak of Globe Battle I. Afterward Becker continuing his education and, in 1923, accomplished a doctorate in Music from Wisconsin College or university and trained music at several Catholic colleges in the American Midwest. Becker’s early compositions are Intimate however you like and gradually soaked up the impact of Debussy, but after conference Henry Cowell in 1928, Becker became a tireless advocate of songs and mixed up in Pan-American Association of Composers; his music became even more acrid, dissonant, and contrapuntal, aswell.
